Eldemir, “The airport terminal is inadequate”

SAMSİAD, with its comprehensive proposal report, called for a terminal design that would not only be a transportation point but also a city showcase. Association President Süleyman Ferşat Eldemir stated that the majority of visitors to the city prefer air travel, but the current terminal is inadequate to meet this interest.

Eldemir stated that they recommended that the new terminal they proposed should have features such as large and comfortable waiting areas, modern gate systems that can serve different flights simultaneously, quality cafes and restaurants, lounge services, CIP and VIP lounges, high-tech security and guidance systems.

SAMSİAD President Süleyman Ferşat Eldemir, who stated that the new terminal should not only be modern but also environmentally friendly and sustainable, said, “Solar panels, rainwater collection systems should be barrier-free designs for disabled individuals. The current tram line should be extended to the airport to strengthen urban transportation. Thus, thanks to the integration, an environmentally friendly, comfortable and contemporary transportation opportunity will be provided to the airport.”

The strategic importance of the region is increasing

In his statement, the SAMSİAD President stated that Samsun Airport serves approximately 1.5 million passengers annually and is one of the safest landing points in the region thanks to its advanced navigation systems, and emphasized that a significant increase in the number of passengers is expected with the arrival of major investments such as Baykar, Cherry and MKE in the region.

Eldemir expressed his pleasure in starting work on the new terminal in his statement, and stated that the process should proceed not only technically but also with a participatory approach. Drawing attention to the importance of taking the opinions of passengers, business people, airline companies, ground service providers, tourism and culture authorities and acting with common sense, he said, “We must work together for a terminal that is worthy of Samsun and our region, that will be held up as an example, and that embraces the future. We want to take this big step together that will reflect the vision and potential of our city.”
